It is reported that the project is a major scientific and technological project in Zhejiang Province, using low-value fish or fish processing byproducts as the main raw material, through the use of modern biotechnology means to produce food additives, capsules, tablets and other forms of functional food products .

Leading researcher and Professor at Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology, Deng Shanggui, said that scientists and technicians have achieved breakthroughs in the use of physical methods to achieve product decontamination. This has solved the safety problem of chemical decontamination potential. The added iron can be absorbed more easily by the human body. This is the two major features of the project.

Deng Shanggui said that the number of iron-poor people in China is 40%, and iron deficiency anemia is a health threat that cannot be ignored. The project selected fish protein hydrolysate as an iron carrier. The product not only has high bioavailability and high food safety of iron, but also has the biological activity of improving iron deficiency anemia, promoting growth, delaying senility, and protein nutrient function. Next, the product will be designed trademarks, functional evaluation, etc., if successful, will be put into the market in July this year.

Deng Shanggui optimistically predicted that through the implementation of the project and the promotion in the future, in addition to improving the health status of iron-deficiency people, the quantity and quality of Zhoushan and even the entire nation will use low-value fish and fish processing by-products as protein food sources. It can basically solve the problem of high-value development and utilization of byproducts produced by fish processing enterprises in Zhejiang Province, increase the added value of marine low-value fish processing and utilization, and enhance the economic strength and market competitiveness of enterprises, and promote Zhejiang Province. The implementation of marine economic strategies has positive significance.
